The stakes were high in the Super 8 tournament of the King’s Cup gala was the Songchai Super 8 tournament; with the winner proceeding to the final qualification in which Contender Asia season 2 and earning the right for a spot on the show, slated for production in Malaysia in 2009.

The first match of the 8 man tourney was between Nopparat Keitkhamtorn (Thailand) VS Mertens Christophe (France). Nopparat took the win by point decision. It was a great performance by both fighters, and the Frenchman proved that he could go toe to toe with the natives. Next up was Egon Racz (Slovakia) VS Josh Palmer (Canada). A close fight with the decision going to Slovakia. Third fight of the tourney was a battle between Khem Fairtex (Thailand) VS Berat Aliu (Germany). This match had the crowd glued to the ring, both fighters on level pegging, but Khem Fairtex took it home with a points decision.


The first semi-final of the tournament brought Nopparat face to face with Egon Racz. This match had the crowd stunned when Egon knocked Nopparat out cold in the 3rd round with text book muaythai. The next semi-final saw Khem Fairtex against Vlado Konsky. Kem once again proving his dominance and won on points. The final of super 8 had arrived, and it was down to Khem Fairtex VS Egon Racz.Both fighters battled hard in a tumultuous struggle, showing world class muaythai skills, but in the end, it was Kem Fairtex who brought the victory home, earning the right to proceed to the next qualification round for Contender Asia season 2.

FYI - Kem or Khem Fairtex is not the same fighter as Kaew Fairtex ;
Khem Sor Ploenjit ,as he was formerly known holds the Ratchadamnern Stadium champion title of the 130 pound weight class, was a star fighter of Satien Satiensud. Khem Sor Ploenjit now train at Fairtex Sport Complex in North Pattaya and fights under the name “ Khem Fairtex ” as of July 2008.
Kaew Fairtex was Sarawut Prapraipetch before joining the Fairtex stable back in 1999.
mmmm.....ok now represent Thailand is Khem Fairtex then....E last time e Fairtex Boss Prem wanted Kaew to represent for CA2.Anyway good for Khem.Btw Attachai won the match in France by points but Naruepol dislocated his shoulder while in a match in France and have to retire FROM FIGHTING......poor thing.Now he is resting for 2 mths at his home before he could resume training and fight again in Africa next year.Yod wiil be fighting in Africa on 20 Dec..
